OUR CLASSES
A combination class including ballet, tap and tumbling. Students will develop balance, coordination and rhythm, while exploring movement concepts in a fun, imaginative and positive environment. Basic tap steps and terminology will be learned, as well as the beginning foundations of ballet and introductory tumbling skills.
A fun-filled introduction to the world of dance. We will encourage children to use their imaginations as we explore movement, direction, shapes & colors through song, dance & stories. This class will help children develop balance, coordination, spacial awareness, social skills & class etiquette.
This upbeat, dynamic class teaches hip hop techniques and choreography to age-appropriate music. In this fast-paced, funky class students will ‘get into the floor’, sometimes literally, to develop their coordination, rhythm, flexibility and self-expression.
Available to ages 5 and up
Jazz classes are fun and energetic. They include elements such as kicks, leaps, turns, splits and isolations. Classes will include stretch and strengthening exercises, floor work and across the floor progressions in addition to fun, age appropriate choreography to today’s most popular music.
Pom classes are full of sharp and dynamic movements used by cheer and dance teams today. We’ll include basic jazz techniques with visually effective arm motions for a fun, crisp routine. Classes will include stretch and strengthening exercises as well as basic jumps, turns & leaps.
Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz, with expressive movements that tell a story. Students will be taught lyrical technique while being encouraged to express their emotions and develop artistry through movement.
In Acro we will focus on strength, flexibility and control, while learning and perfecting acrobatic tricks, such as limbers, walkovers, handsprings, aerials, handstands and combination tumbling passes.
Students must be approved for pointe shoes. Students must have a minimum of 3 years of ballet training and currently be enrolled in a ballet class.
The curriculum of this class allows students the opportunity to develop strength and stretch in the feet and leg muscles, as well as the proper alignment necessary for dancing on pointe. Ab work will also be incorporated to strengthen the core. Students that have demonstrated the strength and alignment necessary, will continue to work on ballet skills on pointe.
Contemporary, a style rooted in technique, is a fusion of ballet, jazz, and modern. Using the ground and gravity, contemporary is a very athletic form of dance, requiring a great deal of strength and control. Contemporary choreography can be abstract or narrative. Advanced dancers find freedom in this genre because of its raw, earthy and organic feel, while still drawing on strong, solid technique.
By Invitation/Audition Only.
This is a 45 minute per week class where dancers will work on jazz technique as well as learn and perfect one competition routine to compete at 2 local competitions in the spring. Emphasis on correct technique, placement and alignment, timing, performance skills and energy. Students in the competition eXperience class must also be enrolled in a combo class and are encouraged to explore other genres as well.
Competition fees vary by competition, typically $40-$50 per competition, due in the winter.
